CANYON, TX -- WNMU made the trip to West Texas a successful one as the Mustangs won both of their Saturday matches and three of the four they played in West Texas A&M's General Service's Lady Buffalo Classic. The Stangs swept New Mexico Highlands and Adams State to move to 3-1 in the young 2004 campaign. The teams lone setback in Canyon was to 15-ranked Metro State.
Sophomore Liz Narcon continued her fine play with a total of 24 kills on Saturday. Senior Suzie Bruchhauser recorded 11 kills against Adams State after starting out the day with eight against Highlands. Freshman Courtney Heiser (Tempe, AZ/Marcos de Niza High School) continued to impress with 32 and 33 assists respectively on Saturday. As Meghan Watson (Kailua, HI/Kailua High School) and Lauren Anicker (Kelso, WA/Kelso High School) led the way defensively with 14 and 16 digs on the day.
The Mustangs will get Sunday and Monday off before entertaining NM Highlands Tuesday night (August 31) in Silver City.
